I'm Brazilian, I've always loved music and since I was little I buy and I listen to rock.
During the 70's I met a magazine called Pop, which I christened German Pop, since it was of Germanic origin, I did not understand what was written in the great majority, but it was there that I met the groups that I publish here on the blog today. Rock made in Germany is one of my favorites, but my taste is very eclectic.

Damenbart ‎- Impressionen '71 (1989) (Germany, Krautrock, Electronic, Psychedelic, Noise)

Damenbart belong to krautrock long lost gems. This German trio consists of Erwin Bauer on synthesizer, organ and guitar; Bernd Barth on synthesizer, effects and vocals; and Tina S on lead vocals. Originally written in 1971 but published in 1989 on DOM Elchklang. Their album Impressionen 71 features highly inspired lysergic, hyper-active noisy kraut-jams with a few transcendental psych-drone experimentations, reminiscent of Xhol, Ashra Tempel, Amon Duul II, Anima. Extremely trippy and druggy.

- Erwin Bauer / Keyboards, Organ, Guitar
- Bernd Barth / Keyboards, Vocals
- Tina S / Vocals

1. Innovative (13:39)
2. Blummen In Haar (7:02)
3. Bewusstseinserweiterung (7:30)
4. Marihuanabrothers (9:15)
5. Ich Bin Der Wind (3:05)
6. Space Invocation (2:36)
7. Being Uns Den Frieden (7:49)
8. Baum Der Erkenntnis (8:29)

Recorded in 1989, not the Krautrock era, but it's still a great album. Unlike the Psi-Fi label fake bands (Cozmic Corridors, Nazgul, etc.), Damenbart makes the distinction obvious: if you look at the cover art you'll notice how all the musicians are wearing fake beards (even the girl). The musicians are, in fact, the duo H.N.A.S. who have recorded many albums since the mid-80's, along with female vocalist Tina Schlebush. I highly recommend this record as they do a fantastic job of capturing the real Krautrock spirit and atmosphere, much better than any other "fake" group.

John, good morning! According to the site (krautrock-musikzirkus), where I do much of my research the album is from 1971.

The world of Krautrock was forever changed in late 1987 when the master tapes for the mythical never-released album by the early 70s trio Damenbart were discovered in Spain by a former associate of the band. The incredible find was whispered about in elite collector circles for months and when the tapes were finally played back publically for the first time, it quickly became apparent that all of the legend and hype that surrounded these mysterious 1971 recordings had been completely justified. The tapes were soon handed to members of the German experimental group Hirsche Nicht aufs Sofa to give the album a proper release and allow this music to finally see the light of day.

The resulting lp was immediately hailed as a classic of krautrock, with one excited reviewer calling it "the best album Ash Ra Tempel never made!" unfortunately, as this lp was issued in only a very small edition, many Krautrock fans wound up bitterly empty-handed.

Hi Marcia, Yes I say this is a very good hoax... meaning I like the album a lot, but it is indeed a hoax. From brainwashed.com's review (August 2004):

"Impressionen '71 certainly earns its reputation as one of Krautrock's long-lost gems, not least because the whole thing is a very ingenious hoax perpetrated by Heemann and Khan. HNAS are, in fact, the true musicians behind the album, and they created everything from photos and biographies of the band, to extensive press notes, in an attempt to put one over on unsuspecting Kraut enthusiasts. Way to go, guys."

Also from Damenbart's bio on discogs.com:

"Supposedly a lost treasure of Germany's Krautrock days, but in fact it's an elaborately done mock project by the brain behind H.N.A.S. (Achim P. Li Khan) and his then girlfriend Tina Schlebusch.

They thought up a fake biography, a fake story of how these unreleased mastertapes were found in a studio in Spain by a former associate of the band and such. Even the artwork looks like it could have been made in 1971.

Several websites list this project as a real release from 1971 (it was recorded in 1988/89 and released the first time on vinyl in 1989.)"

But as I said, a very good album, and why call it a parody? Just good Krautrock recorded in 1989.

John, how crazy! Thanks for the explanation
